Drift Safari Rocks out Evergreen Speedway!

Well the weekend began with Pete Schroeder from Neptune Drift rocking out his friends stock powered 240sx Coupe and getting cut off into the hairpin in the finals and ended up with no where to go but the back of his opponents car.  With the front end of the coupe "re-arranged" Pete decided it would be a good car to take down to Evergreen Speedway and trash on it some more!!!   With the end in sight at 7am sunday morning the day began.  Matthew Do met us at the shop in his SR powered S13 (Matt I still hate you for the deal you got!) and we finished up some final details and hit the road at 8:30am.

The road to the border brought its own world of problems!  First off was Pete, it overheated and blew out the overflow tube.  After fixing that and refilling the rad we were on the road again.  Running down 0 ave to get to the Aldergrove border as he Peace Arch and Truck Crossing were LONG waits!   On that drive Matt popped a charge pipe and we lost him through the rolling hills.  At the same moment Zack Geng called us with his own problems.  First off I should tell you Zack won the "Dumb Canadian of the Month Award", partially because he was driving down to a drifting event with no JACK!  So after not fitting his wheels properly and having the fender rub through his tires down to the chords less than 20 miles into the US Matt stopped to help him out (because Pete and I missed the exit).

After that Pete once again had overheating issues, after a quick stop and refill and a bleed we were on our way again.  The rest of the drive went smoothly from there on, and we arrived at the track about noon.

After a quick Tech Pete jumped right in line and began the day with this!

Rocking the KA powered coupe he was doing great!  Matt Do and Zack Geng showed up a bit later and joined the fun.  Zack was in a run group that I missed out on but I snapped this shot of Matt before I got off the track.

So after my quick break and hanging out in the Pits it was back to the track for more hot lapping sessions.  Got to watch the boys go round and round again, then this happened.....

Which resulted in this!

Pete is fine, it wasn't a bad hit but it was kind of funny when I walked up to the car and he gave me a big smile and 2 thumbs up....of course then the tow truck showed up an the paramedics swarmed him to check him out.  So after hooking up the rope and dragging him back to the pits, Pete got to work on getting it back together and making sure we had a ride home.

Next to break on our lovely adventure was Zack!  this is what clenched him his award.  Zack drove all the way down with a noisy throw out bearing and was surprised when he got onto the first run and it failed! So we spent the rest of the day running around finding him a place to keep his car till he could go back and get it.   The only good thing about this was it gave a TC rod for Pete to steal so we could drive home.   So while his car was stationary I parked a new sticker on his headlight!

At the end of the day, Pete and I drove the car back to the shop with...  No Lights, No wipers, No Fender, Overheating issues, and some VERY weird noises!  But we are home and prepared for another day and get the cars ready for another round.

And here are the rest of my pictures from the event:

Pacific Grand Prix | Drift Invitational
You will have to enjoy this video, or else. Notice the 100hp AE86, ya, that was Trent drifting Pat Lee's levin. Sick video as always Justin.

Drift Safari heads to PGP!!!

Well for a nice saturday morning it started off a little bit hectic, The plan was to leave by 10:30 am...In saying that, we got to the shop by 10am where Ian had to change his oil, pack the car and get his insurance for the day.  This did NOT go as planned.  First off, his il filter must have been attached by superman, it really did not want to come off.  Secondly, Ian's wallet managed to walk off during all of this and we spent an hour looking for it so he could get his insurance.  Once we managed to get on the road, things went a bit smoother, Ian got pulled out of the border line and sent through the commercial line because the border guard loved his car...But who wouldn't!  After gassing up in Lyden, Wa we were finally on our way to the track.  The drive was great, it was a fantastic drive and I took the oportunity to grab a few shots of Ian rolling down the highway.  Unfortunately Trent kept driving on the wrong side of the car or I would have grabbed some of him too.

Trent was rocking Pat Lee's Corolla which was a whole new ball game, a big change from the SR powered corolla he usually drives!  Although underpowered for the track I have to say trent did fairly well with the little beast and looked like he was having fun tossing it into the corners to make it through them......With only a few off course experiences through the day ;)

Ian was in typical form, controlling his car very well and at one point during the day I believe he actually linked the WHOLE track...14 turns in once solid continuous slide.  It was a beautiful site to watch and I look forward to getting out there again with the video camera to bring you all some footage of that.

The day at the event was fantastic, I got to stand pretty much right on the track in controlled areas and really had fun.  Next time I will bring my longer lense to get some better angles off the hill there but in short terms it was a fantastic day.   Check out the facebook page for more shots from the day.
