Formula Drift Seattle 2011!

The Drift Safari Boys had a great weekend in Seattle. Many ups and downs! After arriving to the track for practice on Thursday, we found out that Ians freshly assembled set up had a few major leaks coming from the custom oil pan. Everyone stayed up until 4 am wrenching on the car to get the leaks fixed so that Ian could rock practice and qualifying
Both Ian and Trents cars were running great! They both looked solid on the Bank ridding the wall!. During qualifying, Trent changed his tire set up adding alot of extra grip. Not ready for it, Trent had a few little hiccups on the bank causing him to graze the wall with his entire back bumper! The bump even caused his electric fan mounts to rip through his koyo radiator causing a few major leaks! We fixed the leak on Friday with some water weld, and let it set over night.

Saturday morning, we reinstalled the radiator only to find it was leaking between the cooling fins deep in the rad. Trent got on the phone and called around to find a loaner rad but it was no where to be found. Pat got to work cutting the fins out of the rad and finding the leak. With a little more water weld, it was sealed and ready to rock!

Ian's top 16 run was against good friend Kevin Peterson in the Serialnine 1jz powered MX73. Kevin was fighting clutch issues the whole weekend and barely got his car together for top 16. Ian won the battle against Kevin and moved on to top 8.

Trent's Top 16 battle was cut short as mechanical problems forced him to retire. Sadly, Trent had to cheer Ian on from the sidelines!

Ian battled his way to the Finals against Nik Jimenez who was looking solid all weekend. Nik had a great lead run, but Ian was on him the whole way. Ians lead run was unreal! Wall tapping, loosing his bumper and overfender, he ran a clean line and rocked it to the finish line! Nik was right on his tale but had to straighten to aviod contact.

Congrats to the podium finishers of Pro am! Ian Fournier 1st, Nik Jimenez 2nd, and Chris Jeanneret 3rd!

Ian Wins Formula D Pro am Seattle!
